carpe diem

Weekends are the best.
I slept until I couldn't sleep anymore this morning, had a slow breakfast while reading the paper - husband took off to work ( he is very busy, always... his new business is finally paying off and he just can't slow down...), kids were sleeping in. Went ahead with some chores and got some tidying and cleaning done. Great. Cuddled up with my 10 year old and watched Rock Camp on disney channel. The 16 year old finally got up, and was in a wonderful mood. And that must be enjoyed - at that age the mood is really swinging up and down.. quite challenging at times....
Then a long time no see friend popped by for a cup of coffee - I just love it when that happens!! Later at the store I met other people I know and chatted a bit. Isn't it great when you are so lucky to know people that don't mind taking the time to tell you a bit of life and stuff? I love it. One of the persons I met is the lady who looked after my youngest when she was a baby while I was at work. This wonderful lady is now very ill with cancer, but still we could both laugh and talk about this and that. Reminding me that it is important to seize the day - carpe diem - and be greatful for what you got on every average day.
Tonight we are invited over to some friends living not far from us - we will have some red wine and cheese, and laugh and talk. It warms me inside just thinking about it.

Well, gotta go - off to pick up my daughter, she is at the stables with her beloved horses... The husband is now home - he is just taking a snoring nap...The 16 year old son is out visiting an old school friend- she is a lesbian by the way....

Hm - life has so many colours... and I love it.

car trouble

SEE? We were driving along, minding our own business, and all of a sudden - crash boom bang - the front left tire fell off!! I am not kidding!! Fortunately we were driving veery slowly, so no one got hurt - but what a chock !! And now the garage who mounted the tires a month ago says he won't take on all the blame( or the costs to fix it) because in theory it is impossible that we have driven 5000 km ( during our summer holiday in Norway) with a tire not properly mounted.... well, dude, the theory might be fine, but the facts still speak for themselves!! I am so frustrated, standing with tears in my eyes arguing with the garage owner.... He says I have to pay for the spare parts, and he will cover the working hours costs... It is just unfair.... and a bunch of money for me... Does anyone have an opinion on this? Or maybe some good advice for me??

An Old Fart

One evening, a family brings their frail, elderly mother to a nursing home and leaves her, hoping she will be well cared for. The next morning, the nurses bathe her, feed her a tasty breakfast, and set her in a chair at a window overlooking a lovely flower garden.
She seems okay but after a while she slowly starts to lean over sideways in her chair. Two attentive nurses immediately rush up to catch her and straighten her up.
Again, she seems okay but after a while she starts to tilt to the other side. The nurses rush back and once more bring her back upright. This goes on all morning.
Later, the family arrives to see how the old woman is adjusting to her new home. "So Ma, how is it here? Are they treating you all right?" they ask.
"It's pretty nice," she replies. "Except they won't let you fart."

My son

My son, my first born, is not so little anymore. He is finishing school these days, sweating over the final exams. And yesterday at the oral exam in Danish he scored the very top grade!! WOW! He just never ceases to amaze me. And I am sooooo proud ! Tomorrow it is his last exam, also oral, English. He is to talk about a topic of his own choice, and for some reason he has prepared to talk about: Divorce. Hm. He is not himself a child of divorced parents ( we are still very much happily married), but several of his friends are... so well, tonight I will discuss divorces with him, in English, and tomorrow I will cross my fingers for him and be happy with him afterwards.

We've been celebrating each good grade so far with dinner of his choice, and I must admit I am getting a bit tired of the gastronomical adventures you find at the Golden Seagull ( McDonalds...)

This is how cute he was when he was only 2, so you can imagine now at almost 16 he is even cuter.... As only a mother can see....
