sunday morning philosophy

Yesterday I took Bundy to a bigger dog forest about 20 minutes drive from home. We've been there several times, it's nice large open space, and always other dogs to meet. I've never been there alone before, my hubs and I share this dog owner life together with enthousiasm. But he is away on business ( have to sleep 2 more nights before he is back home) and I did have a date with my 17 year old son to come along, but he let me down... So, when we arrived the parking lot was packed... Hm, OK, plenty of doggies then... Bundy all excited..At the gate another dog stood barking, and I waited. The owner ( a big man) roared" Arent' you coming in?" yes well I didn't want to open the gate until his dog was on leash... But he opened the gate, his dog ran out, other dogs were on their way in, I went in with Bundy, and unleashed him. I didn't notice the gate was still open... so off course in the middle of all this chaos Bundy ran out. I desperately tried to grab him, bruising my finger badly in the process ( left hand mid finger now all blue, bleedy and double size... sob..). Umph, bad beginning. Got a hold of Bundy and started trotting along the paths. After the few over exciting starting minutes I managed to get contact with my dog and he sort of followed me around, all the while dancing and running around with many other dogs. And he IS big ( 60 kg) - we tend to really notice that when meeting other dogs. At home we find him being just a cuddly. happy baby boy...

But somehow this days dog forest trip wasn't fun. For me anyway. Bundy the Bundle of Joy had a blast -as always. But I didn't feel welcome, coming there with my big dog. There were lots of other dogs and their owners, all various sizes, but I felt the other peoples sceptical looks and murmurs like: is he a fighting dog ? There is an ongoing debate in Denmark regarding fighting dogs, there is a list of certain dog breeds that should be illegal. Bullmastiff is not on the list... Anyway, after touring the forest a couple of times we went home. Me with a throbbing finger, Bundy all worn out. And now I am a bit puzzled why I didn't enjoy the trip like usual..

Off course there was my finger ( I have a low pain threshold...) And also I was a bit annoyed with my son for letting me down.. Next time in that particular forest my hubs will come along.. for sure. I guess that probably is the point; he wasn't there. And it was all up to me to act all in charge and in control big dog owner. Which I actually find myself being! So what's the big deal!

and anyway - noone can be spooked by this guy - really.

Today Bundy will be staying at home - no trips for him. In this very moment he is sound asleep, slightly snoring.. He has a job though - must supervise the 17 year old doing homework.

I will go with my 12 year old daughter and 2 of her girlfriends to the local mall shopping. Off course I won't be allowed to actually go with them. I can drive them there, and then go shopping on my own, meeting them after a certain time, most likely more than welcome to buy them a snack, and then drive them home. Hopefully we won't be bumpin into eachother while there - that would a disaster. For them.

Ah well.

First, another cup of tea.

The very worst thing about Sundays is that Monday is lurking right behind...

joke

thinking of my blog pal Jocelyn from O Mighty Crisis, I found this one:

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood.
Trying to make the matter clearer, he said: "Now, students, if I stood on my head the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I should turn red in the face."

"Yes, sir," the boys said.

"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"

A little fellow shouted, "'It's because yer feet ain't empty."

cats and dogs

we keep trying, but the chemistry isn't too good... we can definitely NOT leave them alone... yet..
We think Bundy just wants to play with Mio, but Mio is NOT amused. Just pissed...

..so it's a good thing to get a relaxing cuddle from ones sister...

..and then "cousin" Flap, a 7 year old labradude came to visit... I let him loan my bed... let him ya know.. 'cause I AM the biggest... or so they say...

phew - I love my wonderful little sis... and she loves me... tomorrow it's her birthday by the way... 12 years...
